Construction activities, blasting, industrial processes (forging hammers, weaving machines, saw frames, punches, presses etc.), rail traffic etc. introduce periodic or impulsive alternating forces into the subsoil. This results in vibration excitation in neighboring buildings and structures, which leads to vibration immissions and the emission of low-frequency airborne noise via ceilings and walls. Vibration immissions are harmful environmental impacts within the meaning of Section 3 (1) of the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG) if their nature, extent or duration is likely to cause danger, significant disadvantages or considerable nuisance to the general public or the neighborhood.
